The Wicklow-based Passive House Academy has been leading the way in passive house training, development, certification and consultancy for over 15 years, and now has offices in New York too. It is regarded as one of the world’s leading passive house certification bodies.
Established in 1997 and based in Macroom, Co Cork, Cygnum Timber Frame has developed a reputation as one of the leading passive house timber frame manufacturers in the UK and Ireland, with a string of high profile UK passive house projects under its belt. Cygnum was also one of the first companies in Ireland and the UK to develop a building system certified by the Passive House Institute.
Medite Smartply is the market leading manufacturer of FSC certified, sustainable timber construction panels and is a founding member of the PHAI. The company manufactures Medite Vent, a structural breathable sheathing panel, and SmartPly Propassiv, the world’s first airtight OSB panel, as certified by the Passive House Institute (PHI).
Meanwhile J & N Windows were the first window partner in Ireland to supply and fit Internorm Windows. Internorm is one of Europe’s leading window brands with over 21 million windows and door units produced, and 80 years experience in business.
All of Internorm’s products are made in Austria, and the company offers a range of products in aluminium, timber/aluminium or uPVC/aluminium, many of which are passive house certified, and all of which are passive house suitable, according to the company.
The other patron members of the group are Kingspan Insulation and Ecological Building Systems. The PHAI says that, “Passive House Association of Ireland patron membership has been developed to finance and support important research work the Passive House Association of Ireland wants to undertake to lobby, promote and educate” about the passive house standard.
