Marmoleum Striato receives iF Design Award 2016
Sustainable flooring company Forbo’s new Marmoleum Striato collection of contemporary linear linoleum designs has been awarded with the iF Design Award 2016.
The collection, part of the core linoleum offer of Forbo Flooring Systems, revives a classic 1950s flooring design into a vibrant contemporary, natural bio-based floor covering.
The manufacturing process for Marmoleum Striato creates a subtle random pattern against a monochrome background, or alternatively, isolates individual colours into a linear pattern that varies over the length of the roll as well as between individual rolls. When installed on the floor one single overall organic pattern is created. The subtle mixing of the individual colour tones creates “a world of nuances and richness, a natural gift of the process of linoleum making,” according to Forbo.
An Éasca approved company, Forbo Flooring Systems is a world leader in linoleum and the company said that it “takes pride in creating new market opportunities for linoleum that move beyond the traditional market segments of public spaces, education and health care”. By introducing new designs, product formats and structures, Forbo linoleum is designed to offer a natural alternative to PVC, luxury vinyl tiles, rubber and even textiles when floor coverings for contemporary and modern interior environments are considered.
