Green Room 2018 to focus on nZEB and corporate sustainability on 2 May

The new version of Part L of the building regulations for non-domestic buildings comes into force from the beginning of 2019, leaving designers, developers and contractors with little time to get up to speed on the new regulations.

The afternoon Green Room conference, which kicks off at 2pm, will feature a variety of speakers on non-domestic nZEB standards, including energy expert Andy Lundberg of Passivate on fabric efficiency and eliminating thermal bridging, consulting engineer David Walshe of In2 on modelling ventilation and comfort, and OCSC’s Donal O'Connor on 'designing effective renewables'. This session will be chaired by Orla Coyle of SEAI.

In the session on 'corporate responsibility, climate change and the built environment', Charles van Thiel of the Global Real Estate Benchmark will discuss sustainability in the real estate sector, Kevin McGillycuddy of the European Investment Bank will examine prospects for investment in nearly zero energy buildings, while Louise Ellison of Hammerson PLC will discuss how the company plans to become 'net positive' for carbon, water and socio-economic impacts by 2030.

This event is focused on designing buildings to minimise embodied carbon, and creating a circular economy for construction materials, as well as healthy places to live and work.

Prof. Michael Braungart is a chemist and widely known for his work with the Cradle to Cradle design concept, which he developed together with the American architect William McDonough.
