Air tightness training course to launch in Carlow this March

Irish energy consultancy 2eva is set to run a two-day professional training course for air tightness testers this spring, aimed at both newcomers to the discipline and experienced practitioners looking to formalise their skills, as well as timed to meet what the company sees as growing demand for qualified testers in Ireland.

The course takes place on 25 and 26 March at the Gateway Business Centre in Carlow, and draws on nearly two decades of testing experience across a wide range of building types. It follows the BlowerDoor manufacturer's training methodology, adapted to meet the requirements of Part L of the Irish building regulations.

Participants will receive a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on practical demonstrations, covering the correct set-up and operation of BlowerDoor fan systems. On completion, they should be able to carry out and price air tightness tests, interpret results confidently, and understand the distinction between passive house testing using the n50 metric and standard residential testing using the qe50 value.

The course is also designed to prepare participants for certification and accreditation through NSAI and INAB respectively, and is aimed at aspiring testers, construction professionals seeking a better understanding of compliance requirements, and those who regularly review air tightness reports as part of their work.

The cost is €749 per person, including parking, refreshments and lunch. Participants who purchase a Model 4 fan or DuctBlaster fan alongside the course will receive a discount of 3.5% on the equipment price, rising to 5% if both are purchased together.
