The Irish Times reports on changes to plans for the Battersea Power station in London, which is to be redeveloped by the Treasury Holdings led-company Real Estate Opportunities.

According to Frank McDonald, plans for a 250 metre 'eco tower' that encountered strong local opposition due to its height have been omitted. The revised plans ensure that no building is higher than the original power station.

According to the Guardian, the eco-tower aimed "to reduce energy consumption in the office buildings it contains by 67% compared to conventional offices. The chimney [would] draw cool air through the offices so there will be no energy hungry conditioning units."

Though there are currently few specific details on the official website, it appears that plans for a waste and biofuel-fired power station are going ahead.
